hemslöjden 100 år at Liljevalchs

Me and a friend went to see the jubilee exhibition of Hemslöjden 100 years at Liljevalchs in Stockholm. Traditional crafts, lots and lots of it. Both really old unchanged techniques, but also old with a modern twist.

I decided to only post pictures of these leaves. 2000 leaves designed by professionals and amateures, individuals and groups. Really inspiring and creative work!

This is my date; Katija, my room mate from way back, when we both studied in Karis. So nice to spend time with her again. She is the one who taught me to knit and crochet with passion.

Hope the pictures inspire you!

Something I made almost 5 years ago. I like the technique. A felting needle and some wool.

I want to make a robot

This tutorial is absolutely fabulous!
Via Whip up.

dressed for success

Last Saturday I was invited to sing at an event at Vaasa Church. I was my firts performance after wee M was born. I dove deep into my wardrobe but was not fully content with what I found. I had a dress, but needed something to wear on my shoulders. So while wee M was sleeping (5 h straight that day!!!) and wee E was spending time in the city with my parents I made a short sleeved shrug (short like a bust warmer) for me to wear in the evening.

I simply cut open a felted wool sweater, did some practical decorations in the back and voilà!

Nice vintage wood buttons.

This is the actual colour, the light distorted the colour in the pictures above.

I assembled a necklace of two pearl necklaces and a brooch.
It was a great event to have been invited to. Thank you!

These are absolutely fabulous. And you can make them yourself by following the Molly's Sketchbook: Felt Flower Pillow!

Pictures and tutorial can be found at the Purl Bee. It is a site with a whole lot of inspiration and beauty.http://www.purlbee.com/

the ten minute project: neck warmer

Take a felted turtle neck sweater, cut abot 10 cm below the tutle neck seam. I got my hands on a cardigan with a zipper and had to cut off the zipper and sew the edges together, that's why it took me ten minutes. You might be faster!

This neck warmer was for my son.

as will be seen on tv

I made a do redo sweater similar to the one I made for my son. It is grey instead of green, but the bias tape is the same as on E's sweater. I wore my new cardigan on the recording of the upcoming episode of Strömsö on FST5, a Finnish-Swedish life style program on TV. I like the show very much (they give out lots of crafting ideas, make lovely food dishes and have interesting reports on just about anything) and I was very honored when asked to make an appearance on the show, learning the host Elin how to play guitar. I will not be performing any of my songs, but I get to talk about my music.

Here is a (very small) picture of me and Elin and an introduction to the show in Swedish:

sö 10.5.2009 kl. 17.15 i FST5,
ons 13.5.2009 kl. 20.00 i FST5

Hope you all have a good Wednesday!
