loppisrace i purmo

This is how happy I was was selling my out all my vintage stuff at Loppisrace in Purmo in early July. More pictures can be found at Loppisrace.fi.

Aja Lund is the photographer of the photos in this post and also the coordinator for the whole Loppisrace (Flea Market Race). Aja is also running the fabulous Lundagård together with her husband and two companions. We are both night owls so when we meet we mostly chat the night away. She is an inspiring woman and entrepreneur.

Thank you for another great Loppisrace, I got really burnt from standing in the summer sun all day, but I had so much fun! And a big thank you to Elina who shared the space with me!

Aja is shooting us from the second floor. Some of my favourite persons are on this picture, my pregnant sister-in-law (yes, I am gonna be an aunt!!!), her sister and my brave and beautiful friend Lina. Me and Lina are cooking up something sweet. More to come!

Some of my vintage fabrics that I said goodbye to.

made especially for you

I snapped this photo in a second hand store several months ago. The tag is sewn onto a knitted sweater and it made me really happy: handicraft at its best.

The tag says: "Made especially for You by Grandma".

I wish you all a great weekend!

DIY framing fabric

Here is a picture show on one of my latest DIY's. The children's room is like an echo chamber because there is nothing hanging on the walls. There is no curtain pole over the window, so while figuring out how to attach one to the stone wall so I can hang some fabric I try create something else to swallow noise.

Fold twice before pinning the fabric to the frame.

Pin the fabric in this order to get an even stretch to the fabric.

The fabric is one of my favourite thrifted bed sheets. Lots of fabric enough for lots of DIY projects! Me likes!

DIY giant pearls garland

I found another bag of ball pool balls, this time in lovely pink-red-purple shades. (As you can see I did not have to spend a fortune on getting some balls:)

This called for a DIY project for the children's room. I'll let the pictures do the talking!

Done! More pictures of the children's room will show up soon.

DIY spray painting

I love spray painting. Two simple projects for two items needed in my home.

Firstly a jam tin can turned pen cup. I taped top and bottom to keep the metal from being spray painted. I plastered our balcony floor with newspaper and spray painted outdoors. You need good ventilation when spray painting. Keep the painted item outdoors for a while to reduce the smell.

One need to be particular with the taping in order to get a good looking edge [said with a gorgeous British accent]. The bottom of the tin can did not turn out as good as the top, but I did not put as much effort to the taping on the bottom. Sloppiness shows.

Secondly: we needed something to hold our coffee filters. I thrifted this small basket and decided to spray it to accompany our black and white coffeemaker and B&W checkered floor.

Happy! Now I do not have walk across the room to get filters, I've got all coffee stuff in one place.

What have you been spray painting lately?

DIY bulletin board

We desperately needed a bulletin board for our home. Especially for bills, but also for keeping material memories visible.

I thrifted a vintage cross-stitch picture with frame. A huge one, perfect for a great big bulletin board.

Classic motif.

Tape off the parts you do not want to colour.

I started out painting the picture with fabric paint, but that did not work at all. Wool was a lot more difficult to colour than I expected, so I ended up spraypainting the whole thing.

More protection for the frame since I wanted to keep the original colours. Newspaper pages comes so very much in handy for all kinds of crafty work!

I wanted a gold bulletin board, but I was not sarisfied with the shade of gold on the wool embroidery, it was more of a dirty brownish shade than the pretty solid gold that stuck to the paper. So I took out my black spray paint.

I am happy with the result!

Cassette tape post-it from Urban Outfitters. Hand written letter (on recycled book pages sewn together with sewing machine!) from my friend A, Prutt & Kram postcards from my Etsy-shop.

Have you made a bulletin board out of recycled materials?

Have a great Thursday!

diy paper prism

I finally got around to make myself a paper prism. I hung it as art on my wall. Here you can find instructions for the prism by Jennifer at A Merry Mishap.

The book I thrifted for 5 Swedish kronor. I folded while watching tv and having friends over for syjunta (craft club).
